Welcome to Six-Sentence Sunday!
Is it possible you’re tired of excerpts from CROWN OF ASH? Maybe? Well, too bad, because it releases on 8/20 — barely over a week from now! [Insert manly "Squee" here.]
Over the course of the novel, Kane, Ronan and Maur are forced to work with some criminals in the employ of a gangster named Klos Vago. One of those criminals, a witch named Jade, has gotten a bit more under Kane’s skin than he’d like…
Kane turned and saw Jade approach him with a smile on her face. He didn’t want to trust her. Her disarming personality was just a way of getting him to lower his guard, and he knew it. He hated that he found himself liking her, wanting to talk to her. But he couldn’t take his eyes off her: she was radiant, even in grungy and weather-worn fatigues, even with her long dark hair disheveled and wild-looking, even though he knew her interest in him only extended so far as making sure that Klos Vago got what he wanted.
Get your head together, he told himself.
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to head on over to Six Sunday and check out the other participating authors!

That is excellent, Steven. Nice job of getting us (the readers) inside his head.
No, lol, not tired of excerpts of Crown of Ash. And I chuckled at your “manly squee”! You’ve earned it. Congrats!
LOL Thanks Teresa! =D
Noooo, I’ll never be tired of it! You are an excellent writer.
You’re too kind, Daniela, thank you! =D
I do believe that’s the first man-squee I’ve ever heard. o.O
I really enjoyed these six. His inner-turmoil is a nice contrast to her confidence. The fact that he knows she’s trouble makes this a slow train wreck in the offing.
LOL, first I’ve ever heard too. Wasn’t it brilliant?
Man-squee FTW!
Kane is known to make bone-headed decisions. This is the first book where we see things from his point-of-view, and realize that he actually sees those dumb decisions coming. ;D
Kane is giving himself really good advice but I doubt that he will take it.
Grand news about the release, Steven. I hope you sell a million!
Thanks, Elin! =D
The most dangerous attractions are those that you know are bad for you and still can’t resist. It’s interesting to see something from you besides horror. A great look into his heart.
Agreed. And thanks, J.M. — I decided it was time to mix things up a bit. ;D
Hmm, you’ve done a really nice job setting up these two. I’m curious to read what happens next. I sense sparks and a possible betrayal coming. Great six!
Thanks Jess! =D
Since this is my first visit (tho definitely not my last!), I’m not tired either. Really enjoy this peek into Kane’s though process. Well written!
Why thank you! =D
