Welcome to Six-Sentence Sunday!
I’ll highlight another excerpt from my upcoming horror novella, SOMETHING BLACK…
This week, we meet one version of the strange creatures invading our world. In ancient times these giants, the Vorg, took control of primitive human tribes through force and intimidation, and dominated their subjects through the use of torture and fear. Here’s a glimpse at what they looked like:
The beast’s head was large and round, and its arms were muscular and extraordinarily long. Its fingers were misshapen and malformed, stubby and greased with shadow. That was the way the Vorg looked all over: like a great sculpture of black clay. It had a basic shape, but the finer features and details were all unclear. Its eyes were pure white, moon white, cold and dead. Its massive legs were too short for the enormous torso, which despite being grossly fat was also thick and powerful.
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to head on over to Six Sunday and check out the other participating authors!

I love the description of the beast, but to be honest, I found the {adjective} + {adjective} pattern distracting. As always, you are a master of detail.
Not every experimental style choice I make works for everybody, I guess. ;D Thanks, Wendy!
I liked the description, even the adjectives! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Chris! =D
I’m the kind of girl who will OD on adjectives, so it works for me. From what I’ve read those far, your descriptions are a favorite part of your writing, for me. This was no exception. Sounds enjoyably terrifying.
Thank you! Description is my strong suit, no doubt. =D
I just realized how conceited that sounded….what I meant to say is, I’m comfortable with description. I feel it’s my biggest strength, and it’s what I enjoy the most about writing.
(I blame the head cold…;D)
Great description! It’s appropriately frightening and credible in the context. Pulled me right in.
Thanks, Ryan!
So, in other words, not something you want to run into at 11p on the way to 7-Eleven. The white moon eyes got me. Nasty, creepy stuff. You always manage to freak me out.
You flatter me. =D (And now I have an image of Vorg hanging out at 7-11 stuck in my head… ;D)
Strong imagery! That sounds like some nasty business right there.
Nasty as it gets — thanks, Skye! =D
Ewww, gross! And deadly as hell, I’m sure.
Again, I’m going to have to pass on playing with this beastie in a playpen.
Well done, very engaging six!
Careful…you might make him cry… ;D
Thanks, Lady!
Ewww the eyes. Lovely visual image – well, not ‘pretty’ lovely but very vivid.
I quite like the rhythm of it but the repetition of “adjective and adjective” pattern is something I’ve been told off for by my editor – they don’t seem to like it.
Thank you! And me thinks editors need to chill out. ;D
