Welcome to Part 13 of Blood Angel Rising, presented to you 8 sentences at a time through Weekend Writing Warriors. Check out the first twelve installments here. (Or, if you’d like to get them in one continuous chunk, I posted Parts 1-12 over at Guild of Dreams!)
Last time, despite the presence of a supernatural creature on the other side of the kitchen door, the newly-arrived cop had his gun pointed at Monica’s face. Obviously concerned but ever unflappable, Monica asked him if he was someone called “Rike”…
Monica knelt on the floor and stared down the barrel of Rike’s gun. Her own pistol was still pointed at the ground.
“That’s Sheriff Rike,” he said as he took a cautious step back. “Now where’s Moretti?”
Monica tightened her grip on the SIG. Her back was knotted with tension. The air was still, but at any moment the door was going to burst open and they’d both be dead meat.
That, or else this ass-hole is just going to shoot me, she thought sourly.
Check in next week for Part 14. Thanks for dropping by, and have a great weekend!
